In order to revitalize Cours Saleya, the City Hall presented yesterday a reorganization project for the iconic site in Vieux-Nice. The renovation of this space will allow it to adapt to the desired developments of merchants and users as well as continuing with pedestrianization.
To revitalize this iconic site of Vieux-Nice, Christian Estrosi presented, in November 2017, a reorganization project for Cours Saleya. The renovation of this space will simultaneously allow it to adapt to the desired developments of merchants and users, as well as the continuation of pedestrianization of the historical heart.
To achieve this, three working groups were formed to question and gather the opinions of the population, merchants, antique dealers, and market gardeners concerning the future redevelopment of Cours Saleya.
The work will take place from March 2019 to February 2021 in phases:
From April to November 2019, the redevelopment of Place Pierre Gautier with the planting of a palm grove and the installation of 28 spaces under new canopies dedicated to producers, as well as the installation of 8 electric bollards and one water bollard.
From March to December 2019, the requalification of Cité du Parc: Paving and pedestrianization of the pathway. Opening of arches at the level of the Marine gallery and maintaining the Ponchettes gallery as-is. Development of premises equipped with compacting container for household waste and underground containers for glass and cardboard. Restaurateurs will be given the opportunity to install south-facing terraces.
From October 2019 to February 2020 and October 2020 to February 2021, Cours Saleya will benefit from an alignment of 2 rows of stands on either side of a large central alley, gaining 260 m² of sales space for market gardeners and florists. It is proposed to go from 3 to 4 rows of canopies currently, to an alignment of 2 rows of stands on either side of a large central alley. Candelabra will be removed in favor of façade-mounted public lighting. Trees will be maintained.
Residents will thus benefit from:
• an embellished, renovated, and secured site,
• a revaluation and enhancement of their heritage,
• delivery regulations limited to 10:30 am to reduce nuisances,
• smoother and more pleasant pedestrian circulation.
