The Covid-19 vaccination campaign is intensifying. Starting Monday, March 15, pharmacists are authorized to prescribe and administer Covid-19 vaccines. The campaign is beginning slowly. Pharmacies in the Alpes-Maritimes have received only one vial containing 10 doses.
For now, pharmacists will be administering AstraZeneca vaccines. These vaccines can be stored in a regular refrigerator. Later on, depending on availability, they will be able to administer Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines.
The Directorate General of Health indicates that vaccination remains primarily for those over 75, those over 50 with comorbidities, and adults at very high risk. However, the decree published on Friday, March 5, stipulates that pharmacists can “prescribe the vaccines (…) to anyone,” except for those “with a bleeding disorder” and pregnant women.
