The Craft Circuit: Middle School Students Meet Artisans

Latest News

The annual evening of the 2015 Circuit de l’Artisanat wraps up the 3 years dedicated to this first experiment and reports on the initiative and its future development.

The Circuit de l’Artisanat of Nord Centre Nice promotes the discovery of artisan trades and the educational guidance of young middle school students; it is an innovative initiative that perfectly aligns with the goal of integrating young people into professional life.

For Jean-Pierre Galvez, president of the CMA, “Artisan craft is brimming with precious and sometimes rare, but always essential, talents. The trade sector represents more than 250 professions carried out through 510 different activities. The diversity of activities in Artisan craft allows everyone to build their future in their own measure.

The integration of young people, in particular, must be the result of a chain of actions from school to professional life.

The Circuit de l’Artisanat Nord Centre Nice is designed to highlight the field of artisan trades to students in the neighborhood, especially middle schoolers who are at the age to make educational decisions.

This “Circuit de l’Artisanat” is an opportunity to recognize and showcase the identity of neighborhood artisans and to mark the collective pride of seeing young middle school students take an interest or engage in this path.

This initiative, based on the volunteering of young people and the availability of artisans, attracted around thirty middle school students and 35 artisans from the neighborhood.
