Cédric Roussel, deputy of the third constituency of Alpes-Maritimes has proposed to the government via a communiqué the creation of a sponsorship tax credit for the fiscal year 2022.
“Since the beginning of the health crisis, the economic consequences have led all companies to make budget decisions at the expense of the communication budget, covering expenses related to sponsorship with an average decrease of 30%,” he stated.
However, he declares that this resource is essential for the sports ecosystem in France and that this market benefits both professional clubs and sports associations. Indeed, concerning professional clubs, sponsorship accounts for more than half of their resources, and represents 10% of those of sports associations.
Thus, this is why the deputy of Alpes-Maritimes proposes to the government to create an “Olympic spirit tax credit” for the fiscal year 2022, to be extended until the 2024 Olympic Games. He proposes a credit rate that would amount to 20% and would be capped at contracts below €100,000. According to him, this measure would particularly benefit sports associations, up to 70%.
This approach expresses a political and economic ambition as it helps companies to get involved in financing sports and, ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, it allows to “make France a sporty nation.”
