At the dawn of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, a massive plan has been announced by Emmanuel Macron regarding sports facilities.

Cédric Roussel, deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes, secretary of the Cultural and Education Affairs Commission, and President of the study group on the Economy of Sport, is delighted.

According to him, “it is a historic plan for French sport.” A budget of 250 million euros has been allocated for the construction of 5,000 facilities by 2024, including 1,000 dojos, 500 padel tennis courts, 500 skate parks, and 200 mobile sports sites. 50 million euros will be earmarked for the thermal renovation of sports facilities.

The deputy, who sits on the PACA regional sports conference, aims to bring young people together around sports. He will pay attention to this project to ensure that the Alpes-Maritimes are not forgotten. “This work will be done in close relation with federations, local authorities and also involve commercial sports leisure actors.”

“These investments will help build a very concrete legacy of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games for the French and will allow sport to be sustainably integrated into our society,” according to deputy François Cormier-Bouligeon. Together with senator Françoise Gatel, he wrote the report “Making France a true sports nation – Developing the practice of physical and sports activities throughout life,” which included this type of proposal in 2019.

Priority Neighborhoods of the City and Rural Revitalization Zones will be targeted. François Cormier-Bouligeon explains this by the existence of inequalities. Residents would have difficulty engaging in sports activities.
