Renewal behind the bench, targeted recruitment, and a clear vision: the press conference of the Nice Eagles set the tone. The 2025-2026 season promises to be the true start of an ambitious and structured project.
It’s a “day 1” as one of the leaders said. A new chapter opens for Nice hockey. President Filipe Bastos, moved, recalled the history behind this project, born from a friendship and a shared dream. This dream is taking shape with the arrival of Jean-François Dufour, former player and executive of the Grenoble club, now the general manager of the Eagles.
“We want to build something solid,”, he affirmed. Alongside him, Nicolas Tomasini takes the position of assistant general manager. Together, they bring valuable experience to structure the club in the long term.
A strengthened and ambitious staff
The technical staff has been entirely reorganized. Marc-André Lévesque becomes the head coach after serving as an interim coach at the end of the season. He will be assisted by Pascal Margerit and Jean-François Dufour.
“I’ve hung up my skates. A new career begins,”, confided Marc-André, visibly very happy. His career transition, guided by seasoned technicians, symbolizes the club’s renewal. The message is clear: work, progress, stability.
Smart recruitment focused on JFL
The watchword: French first. The Eagles have completed all their JFL signings (locally trained players), a crucial step in forming their rosters.
Two contract extensions have been announced: Nicolas Ruel and Teemu Loizeau. Players who are committed and loyal to the project, according to the coach. Three foreign players are also under contract, with more arrivals expected.
Pascal Margerit, assistant coach, emphasizes: “the pillars of our team are the French.” He introduced Valentin Coffy and Jordan Mugnier, two promising young players from Chamonix. A motivated new generation, ready to get involved.
Patience, ambition, and commitment
The Eagles do not promise miracles. But they are laying solid foundations, with a clear project, a growing audience, and committed partners.
“We want hockey to become an attraction in Nice,” says Jean-François. Communication is strengthened, the ice rink is filling up, and the sporting ambitions are rising: “to be competitive every night, against any team.” Concludes the new general manager.
