The En Nour Case: It’s Spiraling Out of Control Again!

Latest News

It smells like burning! The reopening of the “En Nour” cultural and religious center case in the Var plain for a public interest inquiry will rekindle the spirits and controversies that were thought to be settled after the decision of the Council of State, which had recognized the legitimacy of the occupation of this place by the association of the same name.

But this was not counting on the fierce determination of Christian Estrosi, who is strongly opposed to this initiative, and the change of prefect… who apparently paves the way for him: it would suffice to open a new file different from the previous one for a new examination of public utility to be possible.

That said and done: the nursery is going to become a multi-functional space! And it starts all over again!

Nothing has been decided or done yet. The public inquiry is just beginning, but it is easy to understand that it has been well prepared by the municipal services and will highlight urgent needs for the future resident population!

It will provide the prefect with useful technical arguments for a new decision which could be different from the previous one: moreover, the file is no longer the same!

These are only assumptions, but the silence of Christian Estrosi, which is usually not the case, suggests a solution marked by political interests.

The En Nour association will not remain idle and has already shown in the past its capacity for resistance and opposition.

We will not revisit the ins and outs of this case, behind which lie the influences and balances within the Muslim worship community of Nice and its region. In fact, it is a story of clan and interests of which the cultural center is only one of the knots.

In this battle with a religious backdrop, everyone refers to the Lord, but in this case, the lord is not in the sky but indeed on the ground, and it is clear that he wants it to be known that he is the one in charge.

In support of the En Nour association, the Human Rights League (LDH) has declared: “Mr. Mayor, cease dividing the people of Nice with pitiful procedural approaches whose only tangible result is creating resentment and division; when will you finally behave like a true republican? Respecting secularism also means respecting freedom of worship.”

Likewise, Patrick Allemand (Another Future for Nice) goes straight to the point and drops the suspicion of collusion between the mayor of Nice and Prefect Leclerc: “The script of the series is known. The public inquiry will run from November 22 to December 20. We are well aware of the result. The rapporteur will conclude in favor of public utility, but his opinion is only advisory. The final word belongs to the prefect. I will not prejudge intentions, but I fear to know his decision.”
