In the presence of Madame Christelle Dubos, Secretary of State to the Minister of Solidarity and Health, the European Day for Youth Inclusion opened at the Mediterranean University Center in Nice on Thursday, April 18.
The issue of youth inclusion is central. The three partners, French, Portuguese, and Romanian, involved in a strategic partnership project, gathered alongside social workers who attended the opening speeches of this European Day in large numbers.
The different representatives of the associations involved in the project each took their turn to outline the objectives of the European Gathering to Generate Successful Youth Inclusion. During her speech, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Solidarity and Health emphasized the various measures (21) put in place “to combat youth poverty in our societies.”
The Partner Associations
The coordinators and partners associated with the “React Youth” project are three in number:
- The Montjoye Association: a French departmental structure created in 1949 with 98 members. Its fields of action concern child and youth development, integration and access to autonomy, and support for citizenship.
- The Frauga Association: a Portuguese public utility structure created in 1996 with 250 members. Its fields of action concern culture and local development.
- The DoxDomia Association: a Romanian structure founded by academics and created in 1998 with 200 members. Its fields of action concern youth promotion, education, cultural and local development, and support for people in difficulty.
An assembly of associations made the trip to discuss and present common objectives for the inclusion of young people. “The aim is to allow young people to have a job and economic stability,” said Joëlle Martinaux, Deputy Mayor Delegate for Solidarity, Social Affairs, and Disabilities.
The Romanian consul to France, Stefan Grigore de Fay, mentioned the main themes it is crucial to focus on according to him: “culture, generosity, transmission, and example are the essential points to improve youth inclusion.” The consul concluded his speech with a special announcement, as he generously donated 4,000 euros for the reconstruction of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
What is the goal of this Day dedicated to youth?
The goal of the European Day for Youth Inclusion, in partnership with the Erasmus+ program and the React Youth association, is divided into three main areas:
