Latest News

At the Museum of Archaeology of Nice Cimiez, the opening of the exhibition Gold and Purple took place this Friday, October 28. This exhibition presents us with treasures from Ancient Rome through impressive reconstructions. You can enjoy it until March 12, 2023.

It is a real event for the Museum of Archaeology. This extensive collection of objects restores the grandeur of the emperors during the era of Ancient Rome. A true treasure of ancient times, these priceless and very rare objects testify to the power of the Roman emperor, as a political, military, and religious leader.

These collections represent more than a decade of work, thanks to the overflowing passion of Valério Bello, President of the reenactment and living history association Augustus Caesar Praetoria. Inspired since childhood by the ancient world, Valério works to reconstruct forgotten artifacts of antiquity, using historical sources such as engravings or various representations from that era. As these valuable objects have unfortunately disappeared over time, Valério Bello offers us the opportunity to admire this impressive collection, masterfully reconstructed.

This exhibition takes us back in time to Ancient Rome. A temporal and immersive journey owed to the meticulous work of Valério Bello. So come and discover this fascinating era at the Museum of Archaeology of Nice Cimiez, until March 12, 2023. An event not to be missed under any circumstances.
