The bookstore Librairie Expression has made a place for itself in the heart of the village of Châteauneuf, and after having faced trials and diversified its activities, the bookstore is moving and expanding. To finance the furnishings and interior renovations, the bookstore has launched a project on the crowdfunding site, Ulule.
This independent bookstore, created in 1991 by Jean-Paul Paillard, has always known how to transform, develop, and adapt itself, notably by diversifying its activities. In addition to a wide selection of novels and general books, the bookstore offers a selection of wines with tasting sessions and wine+book boxes, creative workshops for children (Wednesday afternoons), philosophy cafés, author signings, and meet-and-greets.
Numerous activities are offered to customers each week, not to mention the bookstore’s participation in several fairs and festivals.
During the summer of 2015, the bookstore will move around a hundred meters from their current location, to Place des Pins, number 10, in Châteauneuf de Grasse.
More spacious, quieter, this new location will allow Jean-Paul, Véronique, and Sylvie to welcome their customers in an even warmer atmosphere.
Librairie Expression will be open non-stop from Monday to Saturday and will be able to offer coffees and drinks on the outdoor terrace. All current sections will be maintained, but a large area will be devoted to comics and the youth section will be strengthened with the arrival of a specialized bookseller.
And for that, the bookstore needs everyone’s help, as the budget for the move is already very tight, in order to design the terrace “to make it as welcoming as possible“, to acquire new shelving for the books and furniture (armchairs, coffee tables, sofas, bar stools); as well as to communicate about the move (promotional film broadcast in the media, rental of billboards, etc.).
