Founded on July 12, 2003, the association “La Maison de la Russie à Nice” aims to foster exchanges with Russia in the following areas: linguistic, cultural, social, and medical-social (through the actions of the Franco-Russian associations that comprise it); artistic, craft, and culinary, as well as other areas unique to Russian and French, particularly Niçois and regional, specificity.

Through the association Perspective Internationale, “La Maison de la Russie à Nice” organizes:
– Russian language courses (all levels), conversation classes, and a conversation club
– Study trips – Student and pupil exchanges – Internships in companies
– Tours of Russian artists and musicians in Nice and its region
– Concerts and tours of the vocal ensemble Metelnizza (Russian sacred songs) in Russia and the PACA region
– Symposia, Debates (literary, philosophical cafes), Conferences, and Exhibitions
– Annual Russia Eternelle competition
– Library: books in Russian and French
– Year 2004: Tribute to Chekhov
– Russian School: Russian and French courses for Children and Adults

On Sunday, October 2, 2005, “La Maison de la Russie à Nice” will present “Cultural Promises” at the Acropolis of Nice under the high patronage of Mrs. E. Cadet, wife of the French Ambassador to Moscow, Mrs. Avdeev, wife of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in France, and with the help of Rostravel (Travel Agency, Moscow), the Spivakov Foundation, and the participation of the Acropolis (Nice).

The Agoras of the Acropolis will open its doors starting at 3:30 p.m. This free entry will allow the people of Nice to enjoy the multiple exhibitions and stands dedicated to Russia. Come discover Grigory Pototsky, painter and sculptor (Moscow) with his “White Paintings,” his monument to Chekhov (bronze, 2004), his portrait of Gérard Depardieu (bronze, 2005) (subject to his filming availability). The National Puppet Theater for children from Moscow will also be represented, along with poets.

At 5:30 p.m., the Apollo room of Acropolis will host young virtuosos from Russia and the Côte d’Azur for a unique music concert “From Classic to Jazz” with internationally renowned pianist Alexander GHINDIN. Featured are:
– Anna DENISSOVA (10 years), pianist, artistic gymnastics champion
– Arnaud SUSSMANN (Nice), violinist, Alexandre BOUZLOV (22 years) (Moscow) cellist, Ivan RUDIN (23 years) (Moscow) pianist, violin, cello, and piano trio
– Miss TROJMAN, singer (Nice)
– Irina KANN (12 years), contralto
– Varvara IVANOVA, harpist
– Daria TEREKHOVA (16 years), folk songs
And
– Elena SHAROVSKAYA and Oleg GOLUB, Artists of the Rimski-Korsakov Ballet of Saint Petersburg.

The proceeds of the day are intended for children, victims of the Beslan school hostage crisis.

The entire presentation expresses the desire of La Maison de la Russie to advance mutual understanding, exchanges, and human solidarity between French and Russians, historically linked, particularly in our region, for better understanding and mutual enrichment through culture.

Lovers of Russia will be delighted on Sunday, October 2!
