We know Eric Ciotti’s passion for authority in all its forms. His belief is that every problem should be solved through discipline and the punishment of the guilty.
His reaction was recorded following the recent events after the Paris attacks, when a certain number of students (a very small minority, but still) refused to join in expressions of solidarity with the victims: they must be sanctioned!
However, we must acknowledge that the vast majority of young students who reacted so poorly do not really have the capacity to understand the significance of their actions. Coming from a family background insufficient to integrate the education they receive at school, unable to filter information on various topics, having no understanding to properly comprehend what they are told, and inundated by the flood of information from the media and social networks: they resort to provocation.
It is a great idea, therefore, to involve these young people in the memory trips organized for years by the Departmental Council 06. The President of the General Council wants to transform these visits into highly symbolic educational acts directed at these young offenders.
How can we not appreciate a President who prefers education by example over punishment?
The Minister of National Education, to whom the Nice representative has sent a letter inviting her to follow his example, would be wise not to dismiss this suggestion.
