Who says Wednesday says cinema. Today, we offer you our selection of the week’s films, to best guide you in the dark theaters.

1. Love is Overrated – Mourad Winter

With his usual flair, Mourad Winter delivers a romantic comedy that goes against the grain, led by the explosive trio Hakim Jemili, Laura Felpin, and Benjamin Tranié. Brisk, biting, and tender at the same time, the film demystifies love clichés while never denying the charm of unexpected emotions.

Diagnosed as “useless with girls” from a young age, Anis leads a mundane existence marked by calm. Three years to the day after losing Isma, his best friend and mentor, he finally musters the courage to go out and meet new people. However, when he approaches Madeleine, Anis is unaware that a great adventure is beginning. Something unexpected. Something called “love.”

2. Promise – Thomas and Laurène Hug de Larauze

Thomas Hug de Larauze delivers a documentary of rare power, shot over several years, between hope, resilience, and commitment. Promise follows the story of Thomas’s twin sister, Laurène, struggling with a severe illness. A profoundly human film that is as moving as it is inspiring.

3. Drop Game – Christopher Landon

Christopher Landon, a specialist in original thrillers (Happy Death Day, Freaky), returns with Drop Game, a gripping thriller. Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar portray two strangers trapped in a deadly game broadcast live on the dark web. A tense and disturbing film that questions our relationship with digital voyeurism.

Violet, a young widow, is on her first date in years at a chic restaurant, where Henry, even more charming than handsome, awaits her. But their budding chemistry is soon ruined when Violet receives a series of anonymous, harassing messages on her phone. Forced into silence, she must follow the instructions she receives, or the hooded figure seen on the security cameras at her own home will kill her young son, who is being watched by Violet’s sister. If she doesn’t do exactly what’s ordered, those she loves most will die.

4. Better Days – Elsa Bennett and Hippolyte Dard

The duo Elsa Bennett & Hippolyte Dard presents a bittersweet dramedy led by three radiant actresses: Valérie Bonneton, Michèle Laroque, and Sabrina Ouazani. An improbable friendship between women from different generations and backgrounds, united by fate and a rehabilitation center.

After a car accident, Suzanne loses custody of her three children. She has no other choice but to enter treatment at an alcohol rehab center. Upon arrival, she meets Alice and Diane, two strong-willed women. Denis, a sports educator, will try to unite them around the same goal: participating in the Dunes Rally in the Moroccan desert. He will need patience and pedagogy to prepare this unlikely crew to reach their goal.

5. Until Dawn: Endless Death – David F. Sandberg

The master of horror David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation) adapts the cult game Until Dawn for the big screen. With Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, and Odessa A’zion, this terrifying film promises a bloody night where every choice can be fatal. Guaranteed chills for fans of slasher and psychological horror.

One year after the mysterious disappearance of her sister Mélanie, Clover and her friends travel to the secluded valley where she disappeared to seek answers. As they inspect an abandoned youth hostel, they’re pursued by a masked killer and gruesomely murdered one by one, only to wake up to find themselves back at the start of the same night. Trapped in the valley, they are forced to relive this nightmare over and over again, with the killer’s threat changing each time and every version more terrifying than the last. As hope dwindles, the group realizes they have only a limited number of lives and their only chance of survival is to last until dawn.
