The municipal opposition denounces the lack of transparency regarding the future of the Stade du Ray.

Before the OGCN moved to Allianz Riviera, the mayor of Nice was clear about the future of the Ray stadium and the surrounding land: Urban renewal must be self-financed, but there will be no construction volume greater than that of the stadium. He also deferred the discussion to follow a project that was supposed to be presented in the fall (now postponed to December) and to consult with the neighborhood residents.

However, the socialist and ecologist opposition in Nice (Groupe Changer d’Ère) took the initiative by exposing, with factual documents, objectives that were not publicly announced by Christian Estrosi.

In fact, a specialized firm (SETEC) was reportedly commissioned to study various options, and the conclusions leave no doubt: especially regarding the elevation, a 12-story tower is planned, and the self-financing of public amenities would not be guaranteed.

In less technical terms, this means… more construction. It’s precisely this assumption that makes opponents wary of a large-scale real estate speculation operation under the guise of urban densification.

For now, doubt lingers, but behind the scenes, names of potential benefiting developers are already circulating, and one, if confirmed, could only trigger the most heated controversies in the Nice community.

While waiting to see if actions will follow rumors, today, the Communists will respond on the same argument: Is there another open secret?
