The new Nissart currency is revealed

Latest News

The new “Nissart” bills will be unveiled this Wednesday, December 11, at the Ségurana village. This is an opportunity to discover the artistic creations of the 2025 edition.

The official presentation of the Nissart 2025 bills will take place this Wednesday, December 11, at 6 PM, at the Village Ségurana, at Les Niçois d’Adèle. This event is open to everyone to promote local values. This currency, created to support the economy and culture of Nice, will be enriched this year with 12 new bills. This is the result of the work of artists Christine Inaudi, Marie-Hortense Camous, and Carlo Bovari.

Each bill highlights a significant figure or symbol of the region: the Aigla Nissarda (official symbol of Nice), Francís Gag (founder of the Théâtre Niçois), and Catarina Segurana (local heroine). The artist Ben Vautier contributed to the project by creating the zero Nissart donation bill, intended to support the bilingual school Calandreta Nissarda Maurís.

An Engaged and Artistic Currency

The Nissart bills are more than just a means of payment. They celebrate local artists and regional languages, particularly Nissart and Alpine Occitan. The 2025 production amounts to 3,000 bills, representing a total value of 31,600 euros. These bills are available in two exchange offices, as well as with 24 local partners such as restaurants, artisans, and farmers.

The Nissart encourages local consumption with dual pricing. A more advantageous price in local currency is intended to encourage citizens to prefer short supply chains and quality products.

The 2024 bills remain usable until December 31, 2024. After this date, they will become collectors’ items. The 2025 bills, meanwhile, will be valid until the end of the following year.

The Nissart currency continues its mission: to strengthen the bond between residents, merchants, and the heritage of Nice. An initiative that relies on the values of mutual aid, culture, and local identity.
