The Nice Côte d’Azur website offers a new section titled “Geographic Data.”
The Nice Côte d’Azur Urban Community will gradually and freely provide its geographic data to enable its reuse for private or professional purposes.
This initiative places Nice Côte d’Azur within the “Open Data” movement, similar to several major cities in France, which is based on a philosophy and principles aiming to make public data accessible to everyone on the Internet.
Starting today, the Nice Côte d’Azur website offers the “Geographic Data” section containing the data and services that Nice Côte d’Azur can provide in terms of geographic information, through the following three subsections:
– Public geographic data: Downloadable map data covering the entire Nice Côte d’Azur area: Geo-referenced aerial photos from 2009, municipal boundaries, locations of public facilities, etc.
– Community map library: Downloadable plans in pdf format, at the scale of the Urban Community or one of its member municipalities.
– Application library: Access to specific mapping applications: General plan, aerial view, Local Urban Plan of Nice, etc.
Additionally, this service’s free availability serves as a socio-economic leverage as it now allows small, young, or low-budget companies to develop creative and technological applications that drive employment.
