The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, GRDF, and GRTgaz sign an agreement aimed at developing infrastructures supporting renewable energies.

Latest News

This agreement focuses on three main objectives: improving air quality, meeting the development needs of the Metropolis, and diversifying supplies and the energy mix.

A Metropolitan Smart Gas Grid, the first of its kind, will support this transformation and enhance the service provided to citizens and companies using gas.

The gas system indeed provides future solutions to optimize the ecological performance of the energy system and to promote the development of renewable gases in industry and transport.

About GRDF

An expert in gas energy and a key player in the energy transition, GRDF (Gaz Réseau Distribution France) is the main operator of the natural gas distribution network in France. Every day, GRDF fulfills its public service responsibilities by delivering natural gas energy to 11 million customers through the largest distribution network in Europe (197,928 kilometers). By ensuring the safety of people and property and the quality of service, GRDF designs, builds, operates, maintains, and develops this network in more than 9,528 communes. Committed to the energy transition alongside local authorities, GRDF works to make this network an ever more efficient industrial tool, currently capable of incorporating green gas, biomethane, deploying new uses for gas, including Natural Gas Fuel, and in the future, storing renewable energies in complementarity with other networks.
