The Nice Jazz Festival will cross the Atlantic next November, heading to Miami where a Nice expatriate had the idea of creating a version of the Nice Jazz: “The Miami Nice Jazz Festival”.
The history of the Nice Jazz Festival will experience a new chapter. In October next year, the festival will be adapted in Miami to kick off the French week: “La French week”.
This first edition will be gracefully sponsored by the American diva Dee Dee Bridgewater, who will present a tribute to Billie Holiday.
She will share the stage with some of the biggest names in jazz within the prestigious Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center in Downtown Miami: Eddie Palmieri will be the ambassador of Latin jazz, influenced by the geographical and cultural proximity of Puerto Rico and Cuba; Kyle Eastwood will perform in Miami for the first time, in the grand tradition of feverish hard bop; Nice drummer André Ceccarelli, a true figure of French jazz, will be accompanied by Alex Ligertwood (former singer of Santana) to present the “TROC” project; the talented Nicole Henry, a vocal treasure of the city of Miami, will perform with the South Florida Jazz Orchestra; Sally Night, a British singer known for her lyrically swinging voice, will meet the Florida International University Big Band;
The cultural and musical project of the Miami Nice Jazz Festival will take place from October 26 to 28, 2012, in Miami.
