The student association Face 06 organized a new edition of its cinema night this Friday, November 22 at the Variété cinema.
Face06 is about forty student BDEs coming together in one association. It organizes throughout the year a program and actions by students and for students. It’s also an opportunity for them to show that Nice is a city for young people. With three major events each year: the JAE (Student Welcome Day), the Face Parade, and the Facestival.
A unique student night
The Variété cinema opened its doors to let in the hundreds of students waiting outside. Hall 7 welcomed the students equipped with their popcorn and drinks all night long. On the program were the three films they had selected on the theme of imagination, animations, and much more.
Students from different programs attended, some even from Cannes for the evening. Some came with confidence in their ability to stay awake all night. Others a bit less so; “last year, I fell asleep during the first film,” one of them confessed. Others missed the film selections but were still pleased with the choice. Loane, Manon, Nathan, and Hugo challenged anyone who would fall asleep during the night. “We’re giving it our all!”
How the 2024 cinema night unfolded
After a thanking speech, the vice-president of Face06 reminded of two events for the next day. The bravest could participate in the Clean Walk and the Student Fair. This was followed by applause and cheers before starting the first film, Shutter Island. Reactions followed throughout the films. Students came dressed in their pajamas (some coordinated) and with their blankets to have the best evening.
Applause followed at the end of the film before a pause and a much-anticipated hypnotist show. An animation that left some unconvinced, while others let themselves be lulled to sleep on stage. A performance that was “eye-opening.”
The second film was another classic, Back to the Future. During the second break, students received gifts such as tickets for basketball games and other surprises.
Finally, the third chosen film was: Spirited Away. It eventually gave way to a well-deserved breakfast the next morning.
Face 06 and its future events and actions
Similarly, a second cinema night has also been proposed since last year in Cannes at the Olympia cinema.
On December 17, Solidarity Christmas will be organized. 100 beneficiaries of AGORAé (solidarity grocery and student stores) will have the opportunity to share a free meal. There will also be animations and gift distributions at the Maison Des Étudiants. Face06 plans anniversaries of the solidarity grocery stores on December 12 and January 10, 2025. It also plans the return of the Face Parade on February 25.
The association organizes a multitude of events and solidarity actions throughout the year. An upcoming distribution for students on campuses will be implemented soon. All information will be available throughout the year on their Instagram account.
