The Federal Occitan Republic will celebrate the Occitan National Day this Monday at 12 PM with a minute of silence and a tribute at Garibaldi Square in Nice. This year, it is dedicated to the 9 Catalan Political Prisoners incarcerated in Madrid and the 7 Catalan Political Exiles.

The Federal Occitan Republic will lay yellow flowers in their honor on Monday, June 17 at 12 PM in front of the Garibaldi statue at Garibaldi Square in Nice in honor of the Occitan nation, which extends from Nice to Bordeaux and from Limousin to the Pyrenees, and in solidarity with Catalonia and its Catalan Political Prisoners and Exiles.

The Republic of Nice also joins this national event. It will be represented by its president Cristòu Daurore, who wishes for the residents of the Republic of Nice to realize that we belong to this great family of the Oc language, thanks to Nissart and Alpine.

It is the Val d’Aran (an Occitan enclave with 10,000 inhabitants located in Catalonia) that established this national celebration to honor the establishment of their semi-autonomous government in 1990, where the Occitan language is co-official, a unique status in all of Occitania:
