“Your vote counts! And it’s by voting that YOU will count!” explain the organizers to the young people they meet during the Citizenship bus tour of France set up for this occasion.
Free from any political ties, the MOSAÏC Federation has decided to raise awareness among young people – all young people – about the importance of their vote in the upcoming presidential elections. This is done without any partisan instructions. MOSAÏC calls on all young people, regardless of their origins, beliefs, or political ideas, to participate in civic life.
As part of the International Year of Youth proclaimed by the UN, and considering the growing abstention in previous elections, MOSAÏC wanted to participate in the fight against the civic disengagement of many young people. MOSAÏC has received support from the representatives of France to the UN and UNESCO for this initiative.
“Throughout France, we will invite young people to take ownership of their place in civic life. It is our duty to support them, so that they realize they must participate in elections. It is only this way that candidates will be interested in them,” adds Dr. Marouane Bouloudhnine, National President of MOSAÏC.
The “I vote, therefore I am” Operation will conclude on Saturday, September 24, 2011. A large-scale ceremony is planned for this occasion.
It will bring together more than 1,500 young people from all over France on the Champs Elysées and then under the Arc de Triomphe, in the presence of major media and numerous personalities from the political world. In these circumstances, MOSAÎC will present the Youth Pact for 2012, which will gather the 10 most popular measures among young people during the Tour de France of the operation.
The future candidates in the election will then be invited to take a stand on these concrete proposals, and consequently on their ability to listen to young people.
