ROC D’AZUR 2013 REPORT: Even Stronger
With over 20,000 participants (record broken) in the 26 races scheduled and consistently high attendance at the exhibition, where the number of visitors is estimated at 150,000, the 30th edition of the Roc d’Azur is undeniably a success.
The next edition of the Roc d’Azur will take place from April 8 to 12, 2014.
ROC D’AZUR MEN: Eternal Miguel Martinez!
The men’s Roc d’Azur once again presented an extraordinary race. With two Olympic champions on the podium, the 2013 edition will go down in history. At 37, the Frenchman, Olympic and world champion in 2000, won the 30th edition of the Roc d’Azur ahead of German champion Milatz and Czech Kulhavy, gold medalist in London in 2012. A climactic finale for a sunny 2013 edition that once again left its mark.
TRI ROC: Fréjus on the road to Hawaii
For the second year, the beach along Fréjus’s natural base experienced unusual excitement during the Tri Roc. An opportunity for the best to prepare for the Xterra World Championship taking place on October 27 in Hawaii.
After 1h57’40’’ of racing, Brice Daubord claimed victory ahead of Karl Shaw, registered in Saint-Raphaël.
In the women’s race, German Katrin Müller, known for playing leading roles on the European circuit, dominated the event, her last test before heading to Hawaii.
In the Tri Relais, the two teams representing Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque stood out. In 2h2’01’’, Olivier Marceau (2000 triathlon world champion), Cédric Ravanel (mountain bike champion), and Laurent Boquillet (former pro triathlete), who won last year, secured a decisive victory. They were followed over 20 minutes later by the women’s team of Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, consisting of swimmer Malia Metella (Olympic silver medalist in the 50m and world runner-up in the 100m), Cécile Ravanel (mountain bike champion), and Anne Valéro (one of the best French trail runners).
