Nice Premium: Who really is Jean-Paul Serra?

Jean-Paul Serra: I have been a volunteer for many years, president of the CDOS for 20 years, and currently serving my fifth term.

NP: How would you explain the role of the CDOS?

JPS: It is an organization for pooling resources, and aiding sports structures and clubs. But we don’t just provide grants; we primarily help through technical means and by providing personnel. We have a significant workload with nearly 240,000 licensed members.

NP: What is the budget of the CDOS and how does it support departmental sports?

JPS: We have a very good budget. We are well supported by the General Council and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. In these times, I won’t reveal the figure, but it is truly significant.

NP: What is your contribution to the renewal of leadership? Do you encourage young people to participate in decision-making bodies?

JPS: The goal is to bring in more young people and women! As for me, I will be 67 at the end of my term, and I’m not sure I want to start a sixth term approaching 70 years old. I might step aside.
