The Sainte-Anne chapel located near the Cimiez arena has been renovated after being vandalized.

Although it is not classified as a historic monument, the city was keen to renovate this building dating from the Middle Ages. This 15th-century chapel was tagged and vandalized in 2023, so it was important to restore this monument’s identity. The current decor is the one last put in place, it dates from the 20th century. The decorations were painted a fresco to restore the chapel to its original appearance.

Its connection with the Nice soldiers of the First World War

“It embodies fraternity with Flirey”

This chapel is the embodiment of the connection that Nice has with the village of Flirey. 1,500 soldiers from the 153rd Infantry Regiment of Nice fell between 1915 and 1916 in this commune of Meurthe-et-Moselle. Christian Estrosi and the mayor of Flirey have even placed a commemorative plaque inside to seal the strong bond that unites this place.
