The UMP launches its caravan in the Southeast

Latest News

Just like last year, the Union for a Popular Movement is mobilizing throughout the summer, as over 240,000 members have joined the political group since January 2006.

After last summer’s success, the two UMP caravans are once again hitting the roads of France to cruise through the beaches and meet the French people. They will come together on September 1st in Marseille for the Summer University of the Young Populists.

The caravans will each travel through about forty French seaside resorts, and this year, the southern caravan will even be present in Corsica from August 23 to 30!

A new feature for the summer of 2006, a plane will fly over more than fifty beaches to announce the meeting points of the caravan.

The caravans will be welcomed at each of the stops by elected officials, members of the national team, and personalities from the Movement who will engage in dialogues with the French people.

The Summer Freebie, a small playful journal offering games, a quiz, and a membership form, will be distributed in 300,000 copies. The caravan members will offer vacationers small UMP gifts such as flip-flops, a headrest for the beach, or candies.

The blog https://caravane-ump.org allows you to follow the path of the caravans step by step. Photos, press articles, comments from Internet users, and impressions of the caravaners enrich this site daily.

This year, the southern caravan will be animated in August by Romain Mouton, Deputy Departmental Manager of the Young Populists of Alpes-Maritimes (responsible for the east and the students). This week, he was alongside Nicolas Sarkozy, President of the U.M.P., and Fabien de Sans Nicolas, President of the Young Populists, to present the caravan, the route, and the 2006 concept of this popular initiative.

For Romain Mouton, “the caravans show that our Movement is dynamic all year round. We are where the French are. There’s nothing better than summer with a free spirit to envision the France we want tomorrow.” He adds that this event “reaffirms the confidence that our President Nicolas Sarkozy places in the youth.”

The caravan will be in Cannes on August 19, in Juan-les-pins on August 20, and in Nice on August 22.
