Each month, as part of “Reading for All,” the City of Nice invites a writer to engage with schools, colleges, high schools, the Lenval Hospital, and L’Archet II in the City of Nice and the Nice Côte d’Azur Urban Community, as well as the detention center. For the month of February, the invited writer is journalist Gonzague Saint Bris.

This initiative aims to combat illiteracy and allows students to meet writers who share their journey towards writing.

“Reading for All” is a unique initiative in France, existing since September 2008.

Gonzague Saint Bris is a writer, historian, journalist, press director, radio and television personality, a pioneer of free radio stations, and an event creator. He is heavily involved in cultural activities and is notably the Founding President of the “Forest of Books” in Chanceaux-près-Loches, which has existed since 1995. He has also been decorated and honored with numerous awards: Legion of Honor, Agricultural Merit, Arts and Letters, among others.

Gonzague Saint Bris is the author of nearly forty books, including “Absolute Romanticism,” historical stories (The Russian Muses, I Love You Unknown, The Brilliant Stroke of December 2), and biographies such as those of Vigny, Dumas, Balzac, Flaubert, La Fayette.

He won the Prix Interallié in 2002 for “The Old Men of Brighton” and the Prix des Romancières in 2005 for “The Child of Vinci,” works that will be studied with students during “Reading for All.”
