Trail running, a booming sport and nature discipline

Latest News

On the sidelines of the Nice-Cannes Marathon, under the tent of the village, the Nature and Trail Awards ceremony by Senator Dominique Estrosi-Sassone both marked the end of the 2014 edition of the Trail Challenge and wrote the first lines of the 2015 edition.

trail.jpg Going from 307 competitors in the first year to 3,719 (3,048 men and 671 women) in this latest one clearly shows that this competition has become one of the most popular, beyond the stadium. The formula appeals to athletes as well as nature lovers, which is the key to its success.

Buoyed by this result, it is with pleasure and pride that André Ferretti, President of the Departmental Athletics Committee, announced the program for the 2015 edition, which includes 13 trails plus the spectacular Vertical Kilometer in Saint-Martin de Vésubie (June 20).

We start on February 8 in Casterino (Trail des neiges) and finish on November 1 in Saint-Jeannet (Trail des Baoux).

The other competition days will be March 1 (Trail des Merveilles in Breil-sur-Roya), April 25-26 in Mandelieu (Trail des Balcons d’Azur), May 3 (L’Escarènoise), May 24 in Blausasc (Trail des Limaces), June 7 in Grasse, June 28 in La Colmiane, July 5 in Valberg, August 23 in Saint Auban (Trail de l’Escouissier), September 6 in Saint Martin (Trail de la Vésubie), September 28 in Sospel (Trail des Alpes-Maritimes), and October 11 in Gorbio.

A now well-established formula that can only attract more and more participants to set a new record!
