Tramway: lines 2 and 3 will change in 2025

8

Starting from January 6, 2025, the Nice tramway network is evolving to better serve the needs of users. A new organization of lines 2 and 3 will allow for more efficient service to neighborhoods that are rapidly developing.

The operation plan for tramway lines 2 and 3 will be transformed to support the development of the Saint-Isidore, Méridia, and Plaine du Var neighborhoods. This new organization is the result of ridership studies and discussions with neighborhood committees. The goal is clear: to connect peripheral neighborhoods more quickly to the city center while improving tram frequency.

From January 6, 2025:

  • Line 2: Le Port – Airport, with a frequency of 7 to 8 minutes.
  • Line 3: Le Port – Saint-Isidore, with a frequency of 7 to 8 minutes.
  • Line B: CADAM – Airport Terminal 2, with a frequency of 10 minutes.

For the residents of Saint-Isidore, the connection to the city center will be direct within 30 minutes. The 320-space park-and-ride lot in Saint-Isidore is already ready to accommodate users, especially those coming from the mid and high country.

Adapting the network to the needs of the territory

Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice and president of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, emphasizes the importance of these changes: “Our responsibility is to adapt our network to meet the needs of users and support the demographic and economic development of our territory. This is the purpose of this new organization anticipated by thousands of residents”

These changes are part of a comprehensive strategy to modernize and decarbonize transportation. The Metropolis plans to introduce a fleet of clean buses by the end of 2025. This implementation will be accompanied by the development of high-level service buses.

The CADAM, which is less frequented today, remains accessible via the new line B, connecting the CADAM to Airport Terminal 2 in 10 minutes. It will also be served from the “Digue des Français” station on line 3, located an 8-minute walk from the park-and-ride lot.

With this reorganization, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis aims to reaffirm its commitment to a more efficient network. The objective is to adapt to the needs of residents and workers in the Plaine du Var area.
