This Thursday, Prime Minister Jean Castex and the Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, Christian Estrosi, announced the launch of the Transition Forum in Nice during the signing of the recovery plan at Matignon.
Organized by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, La Tribune, and the Transition Forum association, it will take place from September 30 to October 1 at the Palais de la Méditerranée and the Villa Massena in Nice. This international event will be dedicated to cooperation and new alliances in favor of the ecological transition, a spearhead of the European economic recovery and its Green Deal.
About this forum
Global innovators, entrepreneurs, industrialists, researchers, public and private international decision-makers, and civil society figures will gather for 2 days to accelerate the implementation of ambitious ecological transition projects. This is the purpose of the 2021 Transition Forum: to bring together a multidisciplinary international community and to catalyze concrete solutions to address the challenges of the century by successfully converging economic imperatives and ecological transition.
Humanity is entering a decisive decade in the face of the climate challenge. The fight for the protection of land and biodiversity, as well as for the decarbonization of lifestyles, production, consumption, and transportation models, represents a historical responsibility for our generation. In this context, it is necessary to collectively implement rapid and unprecedented transformations.
Program Highlights
The 2-day international summit will revolve around 4 main themes – mobility, food, housing, and production and consumption. This will be an opportunity for participants to discover breakthrough innovations, forge business partnerships, exchange ideas, and co-create collectively.
It will be held during the Nice Transition Days, an international festival of ecological innovations that will take place for the first time across the entire Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis from September 27 to October 3, 2021. A true open-air laboratory, it will allow city dwellers to discover and experiment with the latest innovations in the field of ecological transition.
The Nice Metropolis in the Spotlight
The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis will host and co-organize the 2021 Transition Forum and the Nice Transition Days, highlighting the Metropolis’s commitment to ecological transition and its appeal to an international audience.
“After the 2020 edition of the Transition Forum planned for Nice, which was held remotely due to health circumstances, I am very pleased to welcome the Transition Forum once again in September 2021, a true flagship event for employment and the acceleration of ecological transition in all areas of activity,” explains Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis.
“After the successive crises we have faced caused by Covid-19 and storm Alex, it is more essential than ever to unite our forces between the private and public sectors to build the resilient territory of tomorrow. This two-day summit will once again allow us to make concrete progress towards sustainable solutions in employment, housing, food security, and energy,” he adds.
According to Lionel Le Maux, President of Aqua Asset Management and Founder of the Transition Forum: “Public-private collaboration is essential to build new economic models compatible with ecological transition, to support the development of territories, and to create solutions for environmental protection. These are the objectives of the Transition Forum, and the objectives we share with the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis and La Tribune.”
“Europe is putting ecological transition at the heart of its economic recovery to make it its main global competitive advantage. The Transition Forum and the Nice Transition Days will bring together each year in Nice all the actors committed to a decarbonized economy through innovation,” emphasizes Jean-Christophe Tortora, President of La Tribune.
