Slight decrease in the unemployment rate. The number of job seekers in category A decreased by 0.4%, or 14,600 fewer people, in the second quarter of 2019, in metropolitan France, according to figures from the Directorate of Research, Studies, and Statistics (Dares), released this Thursday. Over the year, this decrease reached 1.9%.
In the second quarter of 2019, on average, 3,377,300 people were unemployed (category A) and 2,202,200 were engaged in reduced activity (categories B, C).
Alpes-Maritimes: 0.9% decrease in unemployment
Unemployment also decreased in Alpes-Maritimes. At the end of June, the number of unemployed in category A was 67,810 (-590 persons), representing a 0.9% decrease in the number of job seekers.
The number of unemployed in categories A, B, C also decreased: -0.3% over the last three months and -1% over a year.
