The two owner-managers of Valindus, Jean-Christophe Vidal-Revel and his sister Cécile Sibertin-Blanc, are following Weber’s approach of “give-back,” where those who have succeeded in life and business feel a social obligation to give back to others a part of what they have received.
“More than just simple aid, it is a true commitment to young innovative companies,” Jean-Christophe Vidal-Revel tells us during the presentation of the initiative at the Nice headquarters of the UMM Côte d’Azur. “My sister Cécile and I have decided to leave the management of our family company to our employees, and we have the time and desire to support young creators who need guidance to succeed in their projects. Naturally, we are not doing this for charitable purposes but for the pleasure of sharing the taste of success with new partners.”
Nice Premium: Your approach resembles that of a private “equity fund,” even if modest in size…
J-C Vidal-Revel: Not quite. We will be attentive to the selection of projects, and then we will also offer our skills to help the creators in their activities by providing our personal expertise and that of our employees, as well as certain logistical and operational advantages.
NP: Will there also be a financial contribution from you through a stake in the company’s capital?
J-C Vidal-Revel: It’s obvious that the financial aspect should not be overlooked. But that is not the goal of our initiative. However, if necessary for the project’s development and success, we are ready to address it.
The Novocreatis competition, whose participation files must be sent to the Valindus Company before next September 30th, provides a grant of 30,000 euros for the first prize, 20,000 for the second, and 10,000 for the third prize winner. It is evidently a good initiative that could provide much-appreciated support for the many business creators who always find it challenging to create a positive link between idea or project and entrepreneurship.
