This Monday the 13th in Villefranche, it is not floats that will be adorned with flowers but rather “pointus”! Around twenty boats, each decorated with carnations and mimosas, will engage in battle with the greatest joy.
The Flower Naval Battle: a tradition since 1902
Some figures: To decorate these 20 pointus, no less than 30,000 carnations, 600 kg of mimosas, 900 bouquets, and 80 garlands of boxwood will be needed.
Each year nearly 7,000 people gather on the quays to witness this true traditional festivity and unique spectacle.
The Flower Naval Battle is the perfect occasion to showcase to the locals and tourists these boats that are part of the heritage.
