Volleyball: Nice loses to Rennes and faces big risks (3-0)

Latest News

Largely dominated by vengeful Bretons, the Nicois could do nothing (3-0). Rennes secures a decider that will take place tomorrow evening, still in Brittany.

Under pressure after their defeat on the French Riviera in the first leg, the Rennes team couldn’t afford any mistakes to stay alive in these playoffs.

The NVB was powerless against the locals. Dominated from start to finish in the first set (25-21), they fought back in the second set, but not enough to worry the Rennes team (25-20).

In the third set, the Nicois were actually leading 17-10 before collapsing and allowing the Bretons to come back to 18-18, ultimately conceding the third and final set (25-21).

The Nicois and Bretons will meet again on Wednesday evening for the decisive third match: the winner of this final match will qualify for the semi-finals.

This decider will be the only one among the quarter-finals: Tours, Ajaccio, and Chaumont have qualified by winning their first two matches.
