This Friday, May 26th, Chloé Macary-Carney left the artists’ studios at “La Station” in Nice. On this occasion, she presented, with her friend and artist Léticia Chanliau, the second edition of their “Woman journal.”
“Woman cave” is a multidisciplinary collective interested in the issue of gender in inhabited spaces. Born from a friendship and a shared worldview, the Woman journal is filled with reflections and proposals on the theme “Power Dynamics and Cohabitation.” Versatile, they wanted to be involved in every stage of production, from paper selection to the sale of the publication. Around twenty artists, researchers, authors, architects, sociologists, and non-specialists contributed to the drafting of the journal. All fields are subject to reflection, from literature to architecture and design. The adopted tone demonstrates a desire to address a wide audience. Therefore, the contributors do not claim to be specialists but share their thoughts and invite reflection.
Focus on “La Station”
“La Station” is an association of artists established in Nice since 1996. Its premises were originally in a former service station located at 26 Boulevard Gambetta (Nice), from which it takes its name. In 2009, this association moved to the south hall of the old slaughterhouses of Nice, converted into a contemporary culture hub. The goal of “La Station” is to promote contemporary art in Nice and to host both local and international artists (France, Europe). It provides twelve permanent studios for local artists and two temporary studios for foreign artists. As the main figures of the association, the artists themselves organize exhibitions, conferences, and other cultural events. Thus, “La Station” contributes to the support and promotion of contemporary art in Nice.
