In the round of 16 in Osaka, Diane Parry left no chance to her opponent of the day. It was the Belgian Greet Minnen who bore the brunt.
For her second match at the WTA 250 tournament in Osaka, Diane Parry made things easier for herself. Up against Belgian Greet Minnen (who defeated Bianca Andreescu), the Nice native showed herself to be largely superior. A scenario that was far from obvious at first, as the match seemed more balanced. The two players had already faced each other once in Guangzhou last year with a Belgian victory (2-0).
This time, the situation was different. From the start, Diane Parry hurt her opponent with her backhand. Overwhelmed by the variation offered by the Azurean, Greet Minnen (27 years old, world No. 95) made many backhand errors. Comfortable at the beginning of the game, she always ended up making the error. As a result, the Nice native broke early and managed to maintain her advantage without giving too many opportunities to the Fleming. First set for Parry (6-4).
The second set followed the same pattern but was more decisive. Aggressive on return, Diane Parry made an immediate difference. More comfortable in the second sets, the French player dominated her opponent. A double break at the start allowed her to control the match. Even though Greet Minnen tried more towards the end of the match, it was not enough to destabilize the Maralpine, who finished the match in 1h25 (6-4/6-2).
In the next round, Diane Parry will face the Danish player Clara Tauson, who defeated Harriet Dart. The match is scheduled for tomorrow.
